Women's
Basketball adds four from garden state
June 24, 1999
Long Island has announced
the signings of four players to National Letters of Intent. Second-year
head coach Patty Delehanty will add New Jersey residents Kim Mac
Millan, Kim Moro, Kecia Rosado and Nicole Winston to the 1999-2000
roster.
Mac Millan, who played
at Toms River East High School was named the 1998-99 recipient
of the Kerwin Award, for top female basketball player on the New
Jersey Shore. The Toms River resident led her school to the Group
IV state semifinals her junior and senior seasons.
Moro led Sterling High
School to a 26-2 mark and the Colonial Conference title as a senior.
A resident of Stratford, Moro was named First-Team All-South Jersey
by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier Post, and The Atlantic City
Press.
Rosado, who resides
in Mount Holly, ranks second on the all-time scoring list at Rancocas
High School, with 1,384 points. An outside threat, Rosado led
the county in 3-point field goals as a senior.
Winston comes to LIU
from Bishop Ahr High School where she averaged 8.1 points-per-game
her senior year. The Star Ledger named the Rahway native First-Team
All-Division last season.
LIU will look to rebound
from an injury plagued 1998-99 season, which finished with an
overall record of 2-24 and a 2-18 mark in the Northeast Conference.
The Blackbirds return its top scorer and rebounder form a year
ago in Kellye Townsend (Columbia, MD) who averaged 12.0 points
and 8.4 rebounds-per-game.
