Long Island University
men's soccer coach TJ Kostecky has announced the signings of Matt
Paradise, Brett Morris and Casey Madigan to National Letters of
Intent to play at the downtown Brooklyn Campus in the fall.
Paradise, a regional
All-American and first team all-state striker from Pittsburgh, PA,
is a senior at Plum (PA) High School. He registered 26 goals and
30 assists this past season in leading Plum to a 13-6-3 mark and
to the Pennsylvania State Tournament. A member of the four-time
Western, PA champion Beadling Soccer Club the past five seasons,
he is a member of the Western, PA Olympic Development Team and was
selected to the Region I ODP pool.
Morris comes to LIU from
Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, OH. A goalkeeper, Morris is a
three-time Ohio Capital Conference first-team selection. This past
fall, he helped his team to a ledger of 15-3-1 and to a Sectional
and an Ohio Capital Conference championship. He was named conference
Player of the Year by recording nine shutouts and a 0.89 goals-against
average. He will be receiving a Provost Excellence Scholarship to
attend LIU.
Madigan makes the short
trek to LIU from St. Joseph's Regional High School in Montvale,
NJ where he was a four-year starter. A forward and outside midfielder,
he tallied eight goals and 13 assists in leading St. Joseph's to
a 10-7-1 record this past season. He was a third team all-county
and honorable mention all-state selection.
"I am excited to
have Matt, Brett and Casey join our program," said Kostecky.
"Not only do they possess great potential as soccer players,
but they are also the caliber of young men I want to build this
program around."
Kostecky is entering
his third year as head coach at the school. LIU has made 12 NCAA
Tournament appearances in its history, but none since 1986.
