Mac Millan, Dudley named to All-NEC First Team; Brookes tabbed for NEC All-Rookie Team

Mar. 2, 2001

Sophomores Kim Mac Millan (Toms River, NJ) and Tamika Dudley (Woodbridge, VA) each were named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team and Jessica Brookes (Ocean City, NJ) was tabbed for the league's All-Rookie team tonight.

Mac Millan enjoyed a phenomenal campaign in which she led the league in scoring (18.8 ppg), 3-pointers made (3.67) and 3-point shooting percentage (.401). The 5-7 guard is among the nation's leaders in each category.

Mac Millan, who was named the league's Player of the Week on February 19, has nailed a 3-pointer in 40 straight contests entering the NEC Tournament. She has 99 three-pointers so far this season, four shy of her own single-season school record.

Last season, Mac Millan was named the NEC Rookie of the Year and selected to the All-NEC Second Team.

Dudley has asserted herself as one of the most tenacious players in the league. The 5-9 power forward is second in the league with 8.6 rebounds per contest and shooting at .540. She has 10 double-doubles entering the tournament and 12 for her career.

Among her heroics, Dudley recorded seven straight double-doubles from January 25-February 12 and was tabbed the NEC Player of the Week on February 5. Dudley, who was named to the All-Rookie team last season, has scored in double figures 24 times during the regular season.

Brookes overcame an early-season ankle injury to become one the league's top post players. January was a month to remember for the 6-1 center, who averaged 13.0 points during that span and helped LIU to a 5-4 mark.

Brookes was named NEC Rookie of the Week on January 8 and 29.

The Blackbirds enter the NEC Tournament with a school-best No. 3 seed.
