Sept. 15, 2002

Long Island permitted 22 shots and yielded a goal in the 23rd minute as its two-game winning streak was snapped with a 1-0 loss to Bucknell at the Governor's Cup in Albany, NY.

The Blackbirds (2-3) were dominated in the opening half to the tune of a 13-3 shots discrepancy and managed just eight shots the entire game. They were on the wrong end of Meaghan Ferris' tally that eluded freshman goalkeeper Holly Nixon (Burlington, Ontario).

Nixon totaled four saves and senior Mary Jaeger (Hazlet, NJ) played the second half, totaling three saves and setting the school record for most all-time with 243. Mony Sith set the single-season and career mark with 242 in 1997.

Senior Sara Sheen (Glendale, AZ) paced LIU with eight shots.

Emily Keber and Lauren Schwarz each had three shots for the Bison (5-1) and Laurie Purse made four saves.

The Blackbirds head west for the Ohana Shootout in Honolulu, HI. They will battle Hawaii on Thursday at 7:00 pm local time (1:00 am EST).
