Welcome Freshman Students

Welcome! We are pleased you are considering joining the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University. We seek to enroll ambitious, energetic students from diverse backgrounds dedicated to academic excellence as well as the pursuit of intellectual and socially motivated achievements who will contribute to the growth of LIU’s prestigious educational, historic and cultural legacy.

How can I apply?

Incoming freshmen students interested in applying for the Fall 2008 semester in the following majors must submit their applications and all other required documents by the following deadlines:

    • Pharmacy (years 1-2): February 1st
    • Pharmacy (year 3, PharmCas): January 5th
    • Physician’s Assistant program- January 15  2008
    • Occupational Therapy (professional phase): January 15th
    • B.S. /M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders / Speech Language Pathology: April 1st

    Applications may be submitted for either fall or spring admission. The applications process provides you the chance to share information about yourself that goes beyond transcripts and test scores. Your application is reviewed by the Admissions Office and relevant degree programs to assess not only academic achievement and standardized test scores but also curricular vigor, leadership potential, the depth of extra curricular activities and overall interest in attending Long Island University.

    Application for admission may be submitted using the LIU/Brooklyn Online Application or by downloading a copy of the paper application. To apply on-line or to download an application, please click here to go the Application page. Generally, prospective students may apply at any time. However there are some programs that have an application deadline. (see List below)  In addition candidates wishing to be considered for scholarships and/or housing are strongly urged to file their applications by March 1 for the fall semester and October 1 for the spring semester.

    Application by a freshman candidate must include:
  • Application form
  • $30 application fee (non refundable)
  • Official high school transcript, proof of graduation, and/or GED score sheet
  • Although all other programs do not require ACT or SAT results, result, inclusion of these scores can improve your eligibility for admission and also enhance opportunities. ACT/SAT requirement may be waived if high school graded-point average is 85 or higher.
  • ACT or SAT scores are required for the following programs:
    • Computer Science
    • Molecular Biology
    • Nursing
    • Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) (click here for Pharmacy requirements for freshman)
    • Pre-Athletic Training
    • Pre-Occupational Therapy
    • Pre-Physician Assistant
