LIU’s Rowen Signs on to Play in New York State League

 

 

7/2/07 -- Former Long Island University baseball player Robby Rowen (Rosendale, N.Y.) has agreed to terms to play for the Herkimer Trailbusters of the independent New York State League. Rowen, who played right field for the Blackbirds during his recently-completed senior campaign, also served as the team’s closer.

Rowen tallied four saves while compiling a 4-1 record with a 3.66 ERA. He had an impressive year at the plate, earning Long Island’s player of the year honors. Rowen hit .306 with 24 RBIs and one homer.

The four-team New York State League is a professional league for first-year players who have exhausted their college eligibility. The season begins on July 3 and culminates with the league’s championship game on August 31.
