Baseball Captures First Win of Season With 13-5 Victory Over St. Bonaventure

3/10/07 --The Long Island University baseball team won its first game of the 2007 campaign with a 13-5 victory over St. Bonaventure on the Blackbirds' first day of action at the Papa John's Palm Beach Challenge in Boynton Beach, Fla. Senior Robbie Rowen (Rosendale, N.Y.) drove in the go-ahead run with a homer and also picked up the win in relief.

Freshman Johnnie Neckar (Fort Myers, Fla.) got off to a good start in his return to his home state. Neckar went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and homered for the second consecutive game. Junior Dan Pirillo (Marlboro, N.Y.) also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.

Freshman James Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 as Long Island improved to 1-4 on the young season. The Blackbirds will play the second of five games in the Sunshine State tomorrow when they take on Northern Illinois at 3:15 p.m.
