Desjardins Named Northeast Conference
Women's Golfer of the Week

10/26/05 -- Freshman Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) was named the Northeast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week today. She is the third LIU student-athlete to receive an individual honor this week.

Desjardins tied for second place at the ECAC Championships, held at Falmouth, Mass. over the weekend, with a two-day total of 162. Her second-round 79 left her one shot off the pace, and tied her with individual champion Ali Bode (Harvard) for the low round of the tournament.

Previously, Desjardins broke 80 at the Tribe Classic in New Kent, Va. Her round of 76 was good enough for an 11th place finish. She is the only Blackbirds golfer to shoot in the 70s twice this season.

The Long Island University women’s golf team finishes up its fall season with the Virginia Beach Intercollegiate in Virginia Beach, Va. on Nov. 6-8.
