Desjardins Tied for Tenth After Day One of TPC Virginia Beach Women's Invitational

11/7/05 -- Long Island University freshman Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) shot a first-round 78, putting her five strokes off the pace after the first round of the TPC Virginia Beach Women's Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va.

Desjardins shot 37 on the front nine, which tied her for the fifth-best front side in the tournament. The Blackbirds as a team are sixth overall, one stroke ahead of seventh-place Old Dominion.

Classmate Rochelle Brown (Calgary, Alberta) finished the first round in a tie for 22nd at 82 (+10). Another freshman, Emma Lister (Manchester, England), shot 85, while sophomore Heather Wolfe (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) ended with a 95.

LIU finishes its fall season with the final round of the TPC Virginia Beach Women's Invitational on Wednesday.
