10/9/05 --
Freshmen Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) and Rochelle
Brown
(Calgary, Alberta) each shot a four-over-par 76, both career-lows,
to tie for 11th place in the rain-shortened William & Mary
Tribe Intercollegiate Tournament in New Kent, Va.
Both freshmen shot identical
one-over-par 37s on the front nine, followed by back-nine 39s
to finish the day. Fellow frosh Emma
Lister (Manchester, England) finished one shot behind the pair
at 77 (+5).
Desjardins' final-round 85 at
the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 25 was her previous best
as a Blackbird. Brown's previous low-round as a Blackbird was
87, which she shot in both rounds of the Princeton tournament.
As
a team, the Blackbirds finished in a tie for 8th with fellow
Northeast Conference member St. Francis (Pa.)
at 320. The College of William & Mary
took home the team title, topping Harvard University by two strokes
at 299 (+11).
Saturday's round was cancelled
due to rain. The event, which was previously scheduled for
36 holes, was shortened to 18. The women’s golf team continues its season
Oct. 14-15 at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
