Men's Golf Competes in Hargrove Davis Spring Classic

 

3/8/06 -- The Long Island University men's golf team opened its spring season this weekend and came away with a 15th-place finish at the Hargrove Davis Spring Classic in Buies Creek, N.C.

Freshman Greg Nicolson (Edinburgh, Scotland) was the top finisher for the Blackbirds. After an opening-round 81, Nicolson carded a pair of 78's to finish in a tie for 49th.

Juniors Patrick Kelly (Brisbane, Australia) and Matt Wilson (Toronto, Ontario) had identical three-round totals of 244 for LIU.

Campbell University won the overall team title in a playoff over Liberty University. Both schools has scored of 902 after three rounds. Isak Pettersen and Fredric Sundberg birdied the fourth playoff hole to give the host Camels the title.

University of San Francisco golfer Domingo Jojola won the individual title by two strokes over Brian Carroll of George Washington.

The men's golf team continues its spring season at the Fairfield Spring Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Mar. 12-14.
