Sophomore Rob Gallagher (Morganton, N.C.) fired a final-round 76 to tie for the
low round of the day as the Long Island University men's
golf team finished third at the Mount St. Mary's Fall Invitational
this weekend.
Gallgher shaved
three strokes off his first-round 79 en route to the best finish
of his career. The North Carolina native finished two strokes
behind medalist Keita Aoki of Bucknell.
As a team, the Blackbirds
narrowly missed tying for team honors at 639, with Bucknell
and Fordham tying for first place one stroke better. Long Island
was the Northeast Conference's best finisher, beating fourth-place St.
Francis
(Pa.)
by eight
strokes.
Senior Patrick Kelly
(Brisbane, Australia) and sophomore Greg Nicolson (Edinburgh,
Scotland) closed two strokes behind Gallagher and finished
in a tie for fourth place.
