Final-Round 73 Boosts Desjardins to Tie for Second at Lady Monarch Invitational

 

11/5/06 – Sophomore Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) shot an even-par 73, the low round of the tournament, as she finished in a tie for second at the Lady Monarch Invitational, hosted by Old Dominion University, in Suffolk, Va. this weekend.

The finish was Desjardins' third consecutive top-two finish and was the ninth top-ten of her career. Also finishing in the top ten for the Blackbirds was junior Heather Pothier (Truro, Nova Scotia), who fired a two-round total of 160 to finish in a tie for 8th.

As a team, LIU finished fifth out of eight teams at 669. Elon University and host Old Dominion tied for team honors at 628. ODU's Ashley Davis was the individual medalist as she bested Desjardins and teammate Alexis Garduno by two shots at 152.

The event was the final fall tournament for the Long Island women's golf team.
