Desjardins Finishes Tied For Second at Rutgers Invitational

10/15/06 – Sophomore Natalie Desjardins (Haileybury, Ontario) shot her second consecutive 77 to finish in a tie for second place at the Rutgers Women’s Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. on Saturday afternoon. The Blackbirds shot 673 over the two-day tournament, edging out fellow Northeast Conference member Central Connecticut State by two strokes for eighth place in the 15-team event.

Lauren Huhnerkoch of Rutgers shot a final-round 74 to win medalist honors, one stroke better than Desjardins and Bucknell’s Amy Loughney at 153.

Junior Heather Pothier (Truro, Nova Scotia) was the next best finisher for LIU, posting a tie for 23rd place at 164.

LIU continues its fall season at the Mount St. Mary’s Fall Invitational on Oct. 27-29.
