Erica Chong Claims Fourth at NEC Championships; Women's Team Finishes Third

 

4/29/07--The Long Island University women’s golf team claimed a third-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships, which concluded play on Sunday afternoon at the Hershey East Golf Course. Senior Erica Chong (Hilo, Hawaii) led the Blackbirds with a three-round total of 245 (84-83-78) and finished in a tie for fourth place to earn All-NEC honors.

Saint Francis (Pa.) claimed the team crown, its fifth in six years, with a three-day total of 1005. Central Connecticut State was next with a total of 1024, while LIU scored a 1031. Saint Francis’ (Pa.) Samantha Milosh won the individual title with a three-day score of 234.

Chong paced LIU, while junior Heather Pothier (Truro, Nova Scotia) placed in the top ten with a score of 256 (86-86-84). Sophomore Rochelle Brown (Calgary, Alberta) finished in 13th (82-87-89), while sophomore Emma Lister (Manchester, England) (89-94-89) and junior Heather Wolfe (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) (96-94-90) rounded out LIU’s scorecard.
