Patrick Kelly Named Northeast Conference Men's Golfer of the Week

3/15/07– Long Island University senior men’s golfer Patrick Kelly was named the Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week for the week ending on March 14, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Kelly captured his first career individual tournament title as he won the Third Annual Lonnie Barton Invitational on March 11-13 by two strokes. The Brisbane, Australia native shot a two-day total of 145 (+1) and totaled six birdies, including five on the final day, over the two rounds.

Kelly birdied five of his first 12 holes in the final round and held on to the lead despite going five-over par over the final six holes. It was the sixth top-10 finish of his LIU career and the best finish by a Blackbird since former golfer Brad Corcoran won the first Lonnie Barton Invitational in 2005.

The Blackbirds head back to the links on March 16-18 at the Fairfield Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
