Shauna Wilde Tied for Eighth Place After Opening Round of Hartford Invitational

4/11/05 -- Senior Shauna Wilde (Mississauga, Ontario) carded an opening-round 84 and is tied for eighth place, four shots off the pace for Long Island at the Hartford Invitational in West Hartford, Conn.

Wilde, coming off her first individual title last week at the Hofstra Spring Invitational, carded 39 on the back nine. She is within striking distance of the leader, Jennifer Rhee from St. John's.

Seniors Veronica Lopes (Mississauga, Ontario) and Tracey Chew (Sacramento, Calif.) are tied for 17th place with 88 for LIU.

The Blackbirds are tied with Lehigh for fourth place at 352. St. John's sits atop the leader board with 340.

The final round takes place Tuesday, also at Wampanoag Country Club. It was here two seasons ago LIU won the first of its four tournament titles.
