Women's Golf Leads After Day One of Hofstra Spring Invitational

4/4/05 -- Senior Shauna Wilde (Mississauga, Ontario) fired 84 and is in second place for Long Island, which sits atop the leader board after the opening round of the Hofstra Spring Invitational in Port Washington, N.Y.

Wilde shot 42 on both the front and back nine, and trails Tamara Bargiel of Hofstra by four shots. Seniors Veronica Lopes (Mississauga, Ontario) and Tracey Chew (Sacramento, Calif.) are part of a seven-way tie for third with 86.

Senior Amy Kitchen (Staten Island, N.Y.) is tied for 14th with 90 for LIU, which shot 346 and leads Hofstra by one shot. Hartford is in third place with 351.

The final round will take place Tuesday, also at Harbor Links Golf Club.
