3/12/07-- The Long Island University
women’s
lacrosse team could not Overcome a slow start and fell to Bucknell,
18-5, on Monday night at “SpringFling” at the
Village Park Complex.
Long Island (0-3) fell behind
6-0 in the opening period before senior Amy Rizzo (Jackson,
N.J.) opened the scoring for LIU.
Sophomore Allison Funk (Lumberton, N.J.) cut the deficit to 6-2
and following a goal by Bucknell, the Blackbirds managed to keep
the deficit at four when junior Xiomara Garcia (Pottstown, Pa.)
scored just before halftime off an assist from senior Jackie
McCormick (Liverpool, N.Y.).
The Blackbirds continued their momentum after the intermission
when freshman Kristina Scheerer (West Chester, Pa.) made it a
