Men's Basketball Stopped By Longwood, 86-69

12/30/05 -- Juniors Evan Meekins (Providence, R.I) and James Williams (DeSoto, Texas)each scored 15 points but it was not enough as Long Island dropped an 86-69 decision to Longwood on Friday evening at the College of Charleston Holiday Classic.

The Blackbirds trailed by ten at the break after jumping out to a 5-0 headstart with 18:19 on the clock.

LIU cut the Lancers lead to seven (47-40) in the opening minutes of the second period but would get no closer. Longwood pushed to a 19 point advantage (84-65),shooting 53.6 percent from the floor in the second frame.

Five Lancers tallied double-figure scoring. Clayton Morgan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a double-double, collecting 16 points and 16 rebounds for Longwood.
