Men's Basketball Falls to Boston College, 87-46

11/30/04 - Boston College rolled to an 87-46 victory over Long Island University in Conte Forum on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Blackbirds fall to 1-2 and the Eagles improve to 4-0.

The Eagles jumped out to a 10-point lead (11-1) just more than five minutes into the game and never allowed the visiting Blackbirds to negate that advantage.

Long Island rallied eight straight points to narrow the margin to two (11-9) on a 3-pointer from sophomore Evan Meekins. The Eagles countered with a 19-5 run to take a 30-14 lead with 6:48 remaining in the opening half and a 46-21 advantage at the break.

After LIU hit one free throw to open the second half, BC used a 16-3 run to gain a commanding 62-25 advantage with 13:09 to play in the contest. The Blackbirds failed to register a point in over four minutes of play.

Meekins was the lone Blackbird in double figures, scoring 11 points in a reserve roll. Freshmen Randy Jones and Albert Forbes added nine each.

LIU opens Northeast Conference play on Saturday, December 4 traveling to Wagner for a 2:00 p.m. tip.
