Long Island University sophomore Jenny Giles (Melbourne, Fla.)
was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher
of the Week for the week ending on April 23. Giles has earned
the honor each of the past two weeks in addition to her Northeast
Conference Pitcher of the Week awards.
Giles went 3-0 on the week and
extended her scoreless innings streak to 42 with three complete-game
shutouts. The sophomore hurler had a sparkling performance against
Monmouth, who entered the game the game ranked nationally in
batting average (second) and in scoring (fifth). She held the
Hawks to just five hits over seven innings and followed that
up with two-hit blanking of Mount St. Mary’s, her 10th
straight win.
On the year, Giles has compiled
a 15-6 record and a 1.68 ERA. She leads the NEC in victories
and shutouts and ranks second in ERA.
