Cross Country Competes at Albany Invitational

10/17/05 – Long Island University cross country team ran in the Albany Invitational on Saturday. Junior Craig Cocchio (Windsor, Ontario) led the men for the second time this season, placing 21st with a time of 25:39.

Following Cocchio’s big finish were Gerardo Calixto (26:15), Steven McElligott (26:31) and Igdalias Mendez (28:27).

UConn’s Max Feldman took first place in the 8k event, while New Hampshire was the overall winner of Division I schools.

Senior Jaime Smith (Burtonsville, Md.) paced the women, scoring 119 points with a time of 21:08. Sophomore Heather Wolfe (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) clocked in with a time of 21:17.

Jody Schoppmann of SUNY Potsdam placed first, New Hampshire also took first in the women’s division.

The Blackbirds return to action Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Central Conneticut State Mini Meet.
