Blackbirds Compete at FDU Match Dual Meet

 

12/13/05 -- The Long Island University Track and Field program competed at the FDU Patch Dual Meet on Sunday, December 12 in Hackensack, N.J.

Sophomore Aisha Thomas (Jefferson City, Mo.) took first in the 300-meter dash, stopping the clock at 41.20. Seniors Jaimie Smith, Temi Akojie, Nichole Lopez and Shayla Wallace competed in the 600-meter run. Smith captures first place with a time of 1:38.70, followed by Akojie in the second position.

Lopez won the 1000-meter run, crossing the line in 3:32.00 and Wallace closed in 3:34.00. Transfer-student Qiana Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ran the 55-meter hurdles in 11.50, taking second place. The 4x400-meter relay team captured first place (4:01.10) and the 4x200-meter relay team posted a second place finish with a time of 1:50.20.

Newcomer Robyn Hamilton registered a 5.78 meter throw in the shot put, earning third place.

On the Men’s side, Andre Marcano (Trinidad &Tobago) ran the 55-meter dash in 6.50, taking first. Junior De Wayne Jolly (Gaithersburg, Md.) tied for second, crossing the line in 6.60.
Micah Nation (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Michael Hillian (Voorhees, N.J.) finished the 300-meter dash in 37.00, taking first and second places, respectively. Freshman Shavar Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica) clocked in at 37.50.

Senior Craig Cocchio (Windsor, Ontario) ran the 3000-meter race in 8:56.50, securing first place. Gerardo Calixto (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took third with a time of 9:25.80 followed by Igdalias Mendez in fourth place.

The 4x400-meter team took first stopping the clock in 3:24.90.
