Cross Country Runs in Metro Championships

10/10/05 - The Long Island University cross country teams ran in the New York Metropolitan Conference Championships Friday at Van Courtlandt Park in the Bronx. The men’s team finished 12th with the women coming in 13th.

Sophomore Gerard Calixto (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Blackbirds, finishing the 8k race in 27:38. Junior Craig Cocchio (Windsor, Ontario), who placed 37th (27:48) followed by sophomore Steven Mc Elligott and Edwin Martinez.

Senior Jaime Smith (Burtonsville, Md.) finished 22:32 in 5K followed by classmates Shayla Wallace (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Temi Akojie (Largo, Md.).

LIU travels to Albany, N.Y. to compete in the Albany Invitational, Saturday, October 15.
