Bryan Steele Repeats All-American Status;Will Compete at Jamaica Nationals This Weekend

 

6/21/06 -- Long Island University senior Bryan Steele (Gaithersburg, Md.) added a second All-American honor to his lengthy list of accomplishments.

Steele, the program’s first two-time All-American honoree, captured second place in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento on June 10, crossing the line in 49.02. His record setting performance marked the highest finish at the NCAA Championships by an LIU athlete.

Steele will run the 400 hurdles at the Jamaica National Track & Field Championships June 23-25 in Kingston. Last year, he took fifth place in the event with a time of 49.26 at the Jamaica Nationals.

The Gaithersburg native was named Northeast District Division I Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and was selected as a member of the All-Northeast Conference first team in both the 400-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay.
