Bryan Steele Named USTFCCCA Division I Athlete of the Year in Northeast District

 

6/1/06 -- Bryan Steele (Gaithersburg, Md.) added to his collection of hardware this season as he was named the Northeast District Division I Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday afternoon.

The senior was selected as a member of the All-Northeast Conference first team in both the 400-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay, and was tabbed the Long Island University Male Athlete of the Year for the second time (2004, 2006).

Steele had an outstanding season, winning the 400 hurdles at the Penn Relays, Northeast Conference and East Regionals.

His best time of 49.65 makes him the sixth-fastest competitor heading into next week’s NCAA Championships in Sacramento.

The 400-meter hurdle competition at the NCAA Championships begins on Thursday, June 8 at 4:30 p.m. PDT. The finals will be held on Saturday, June 10 at approximately 1:00 p.m. PDT.
