Aisha Thomas Named Northeast Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

1/9/07 -- After winning the 200-meter dash at the Fordham Invitational, Long Island University junior Aisha Thomas (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) was named the Northeast Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.

Thomas turned in a personal-best time of 24.56. The mark stands as the best in the NEC this season and qualified Thomas for the ECAC Championships.

Thomas also holds the current top NEC time in the 60-meter dash. She ran a 7.64 in the Seton Hall Open on Dec. 3. In addition to crossing the line first in the 200-meter dash, Thomas was also part of the first-place 4x400-meter relay team at the Fordham Invitational. The Blackbirds bested the competition with a time of 3:54.13.

The Long Island track teams will return to action on Friday, Jan. 12 at the NYU Invitational.
