-- The Long Island University outdoor track and field
teams will head to West Long Branch, N.J., to take part in
the Northeast Conference Championships this weekend. The Blackbirds
will look to improve on their strong showing last season when
the
women's team won its first-ever
outdoor championship and the men's squad finished second.
Aisha Thomas (Jefferson
City, Mo.) was named last year's Most Valuable Performer
and Most Outstanding Track Performer, while teammateTavia
Burke (St. Catherine, Jamaica) took home Rookie of the Meet
honors.
The championships,
hosted by Monmouth, kick off on Saturday, May 5 and will conclude
on Sunday, May 6.
