Burke Qualifies for NCAA Regional With 100-Meter Hurdles Performance at ECAC/IC4A Championships

5/13/07 -- With her performance in the 100-meter hurdles at the ECAC Championships, Long Island University sophomore Tavia Burke (St. Catherine, Jamaica) qualified for the NCAA Regional. Burke finished second in the finals with a time of 13.79, exceeding the NCAA qualifying standard of 13.92.

Sophomore Heather Patton (Bowie, Md.) finished ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.87 meters on the Blackbirds’ second day of competition at the ECACs in Princeton, N.J.

In men’s IC4A Championship action, Long Island sophomore Andre Marcano (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) took fourth in the finals of the 100-meter dash. He crossed the line at 10.75.

The NCAA East Regional is scheduled for May 25-26.
