Patton Places 25th in Triple Jump at NCAA East Regional

5/26/07 -- Long Island University sophomore Heather Patton (Bowie, Md.) leapt to a 25th-place mark in the triple jump at the East Regional of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Patton recorded a jump of 12.05 meters. Georgia Southern's Nicole Brown took first place with a mark of 13.26 meters.

In prior action at the East Regional sophomore Tavia Burke (St. Catherine, Jamaica) took 27th place in the 100-meter hurdles. Burke crossed the line at 14.16 in the preliminary race. Hampton's Yvette Lewis placed first with a 13.11

The Blackbirds team of junior Marlon Martin (Kingstown, St. Vincent), sophomore Andre Marcano (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago), sophomore Shavar Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica) and freshman Norman Simms (Upper Marlboro, Md.) fell just short of qualifying for the finals in the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet ran a 40.83 for a 10th-place finish in the prelims. The team from Florida State placed first with a 39.30.
