Outdoor Track Competes at Wake Forest Open

 

3/24/07 -- The Long Island University outdoor track and field team took part in the Wake Forest Open, with junior Aisha Thomas picking up an 11th-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Thomas crossed the line at 24.40.

The Blackbirds also fared well in the 400-meter dash, as twin sisters Crystal and Crista Strachan placed 20th and 22nd, respectively. Crystal Strachan ran to a 57.68 finish, while Crista Strachan recorded a time of 58.00.

Freshman Aniecia Williams took home 32nd place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.51. In the 400-meter hurdles, Qiana Smith (1:03.85) placed 14th, Shaneqwa Warren (1:07.98) finished 23rd and Crista Strachan (1:09.94) took home 23rd place.

Heather Patton leapt to a 13th-place mark of 1.60 meters in the high jump. In the long jump, Patton finished 17th in the high jump with a mark of 5.34 meters. The 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth with a time of 3:51.78.

On the men’s side, Sheldon Goffe placed 36th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.71. In the 400-meter hurdles, David Lipford garnered a 31st-place finish with a mark of 57.07.

Norman Simms took home 22nd place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.02. The Long Island squad also garnered 13th place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.78, while the B team placed 18th (3:23.06).
