Floyd Mayne finishes 13th for Cross Country at Albany

10/16/04 -- Senior Floyd Mayne (Uniondale, N.Y.) finished 13th overall in 25:40, helping Long Island close 12th at the 38th Annual Albany Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Craig Cocchio (Ontario, Canada) had a strong performance, closing 34th in 26:06, and classmate Gerardo Calixto (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished in 27:19. Senior Isaiah Cartledge (Forestville, Md.) crossed the line in 27:42 for the Blackbirds, who posted an average time 27:12.6.

The women were paced by junior Jaimie Smith (Burtonsville, Md.), who finished in 21:14 with an average mile of 6:50. Juniors Temi-Tope Akojie (Largo, Md.) and Shayla Wallace (Fayetteville, N.C.) closed in 21:43 and 21:53, respectively.

Freshman Crista Strachan (Freeport Grand Bahamas, Bahamas) crossed the line in 23:47. Juniors N’Kelle Anderson (Forestville, Md.) and Eva Terry (Germantown, Md.) rounded out the women closing in 25:01 and 25:45, respectively.

LIU will travel to New Britain, Connecticut to compete in the CCSU Mini Meet on Saturday, October 23.
