Craig Cocchio Breaks School Record in the 3,000 Meters

 

2/25/2005 -- Sophomore Craig Cocchio (Windsor, Ontario) broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run on Friday at the NYU game at the NYC Armory this weekend. He closed in 15th place, recording a time of 8:41.73.

Sophomore Chad Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) also had a strong outing capturing first place in the long jump with an IC4A qualifying leap of 7.17 meters.

Junior Temi-Tope Akojie (Largo, Md.) placed third in the 800-meter dash, crossing the line in 2:18.13. Sophomore Janel McFarlane (Kensington, Md.) had a solid meet, taking fourth in the 500-meter dash in 1:16.50. Junior Dionne Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a leap of 10.85 meters for third place in the triple jump.

The Blackbirds will compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass. on March 5 and 6.
