Floyd Mayne named NEC Athlete of the Week

10/19/04 -- Senior Floyd Mayne (Uniondale, N.Y.) today was tabbed Northeast Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Long Island.

Mayne earned the award after another solid performance, this time at the Albany Invitational last Saturday. He closed 13th out of 315 runners in a time of 25:40 over eight kilometers.

His outing helped the Blackbirds finish the meet in 12th place out of 29 schools.

It was the latest standout showing this season for Mayne, who closed third at the Monmouth Invitational on October 8 in 27:02 and ninth at Quinnipiac on September 24 in 26:44.

The Blackbirds return to action Sunday at the Central Connecticut State Mini-Meet in New Britain, Conn.
