Track and Field Records a Trio of Third-Place Finishes at the Raleigh Relays

 

3/25-26/05 -- Long Island University posted three third-place finishes at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.

Freshman Aisha Thomas (Jefferson City, Mo.) closed third in the 200-meter dash in 24.94 seconds for the Blackbirds' best individual finish.

Temi-Tope Akojie (Largo, Md.) recorded an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:18.18 and fellow junior Jaimie Smith (Burtonsville, Md.) was right behind her in 2:18.76.

The men's 4x100 relay team captured third place in 41.47 seconds and was comprised of seniors David Crichlow (Lakewood, N.J.), Shaun Johnson (Ontario, Canada) and Jeremy Bascom (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and junior Mike Hillian (Voorhees, N.J.). The 4x400 relay squad also closed third, stopping the clock in 3:13.69, and they were made up of Hillian, junior Bryan Steele (Gaithersburg, Md.), graduate student Ricardo Ordain (Costa Rica) and junior Jabari Bush (Baltimore, Md.)

The 4x200 relay team finished fifth in 1:28.53 and was comprised of Ordain, sophomore Leon Stephens (Spanishtown, Jamaica), senior Allandro Pierre (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Chad Miller (Sliver Spring, Md.)

Johnson closed ninth in the 100-meter dash in 10.96 seconds.

LIU will compete Saturday, April 2 at both the Wagner Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. and the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md.
