Track and Field Competes at Seton Hall Games

 

12/11/04 -- Junior Bryan Steele (Gaithersburg, Md.) notched a pair of first-place finishes and senior Floyd Mayne (Uniondale, N.Y.) added one of his own for Long Island at the Seton Hall Games in South Orange, N.J.

Steele took first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.32 seconds and helped the 4x400-meter relay team win in 3:22.95. The relay team also consisted of senior Antonio Thomas (Baltimore, Md.), sophomore David Crichlow (Lakewood, N.J.) and freshman Chad Miller.

Steele grabbed second place in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 7.05 seconds, and Mayne was victorious in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:56.28.

Aisha Thomas paced the women's squad by closing second in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.06 seconds and helped the 4x400 meter relay team finish seconds in 4:01.51. That relay team also consisted of junior Eva Terry (Germantown, Md.), freshman Crystal Strachan (Freeport, Grand Bahamas) and freshman Crista Strachan (Freeport, Grand Bahamas).

The Blackbirds do not return to action until January 7 at the Fordham Invitational at the New York City Armory.
