Junior Bryan Steele (Gaithersburg, Md.) continued his standout running in the
400-meter hurdles, winning the crown at the ECAC/IC4A Championships
in Princeton, N.J.
Steele, who already
has qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in this event a third
straight year, captured the IC4A title in 50.56 seconds.
The NEC outdoor
400-meter hurdles champion also was part of the 1,600-meter
relay team which closed fourth in 3:10.25. That squad also
consisted of senior Shaun Johnson (Ontario, Canada), junior
Michael Hillian
(Voorhees,
N.J.) and senior Allandro Pierre (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
The men's 400-meter
relay team took sixth in 41.27 seconds. They were made up of
Hillian, Johnson, Dave Crichlow (Lakewood, N.J.) and
fellow senior Jeremy Bascom (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Hillian was in
action for the first time since he was named Most Outstanding
Track Performer at the Northeast Conference Championships.
Freshman Aisha
Thomas (Jefferson City, Mo.) placed third in the 200-meter
dash in 24.09 seconds. It was her first meet since the NEC
Championships, in which she was tabbed Most Valuable Performer,
Most Outstanding
Track Performer and Rookie of the
Meet.
Senior N'Kelle Anderson
(Forestville, Md.) closed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in
1:01.43.
The squad is in
action Monday at the Tuppeny Twilight on the campus of Villanova
University.
The meet will serve as a last chance for individuals to qualify
for the East Regionals, which take place May 27-28 on Randall's
Island
in New York. |
