Blackbirds Fall to Fresno State, 3-1, at San Francisco Tourney

09/03/05-- Long Island University lost to Fresno State, 3-1 (30-21, 26-30, 30-18, 30-18), in second day action of the 2005 USF Powerade/Asics Classic Friday night at War Memorial Gym in San Francisco, Calif.

Senior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, Calif.) paced the attack for the Blackbirds with a her third double-double of the season. She led Long Island with 16 kills and 23 digs in a match that saw the Bulldogs outhit LIU, 60-44.

Martina Wagner (Friedrichshafen, Germany) also notched a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs in the defeat. The Bulldogs were led by Ilima Sam Fong's precision passing, as she recorded a match-high 39 assists.

The Blackbirds (0-6) will complete their West Coast trip on Saturday evening as they face The College of William & Mary at 7:45 p.m. EST.
