22 kills and a team-high 12 digs, but it was not enough as

Island lost its second
match of the tournament to Georgia Tech, 3-1 (30-23, 16-30,
30-24, 33-31), at the Georgia Tech Renaissance Invitational
on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets used a .345
hitting percentage over the final two sets to break the match
open, led by freshman Talisa Kellogg's 13 kills and .333 percentage.
Also leading the Blackbirds offensively
was senior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, Calif.), who posted 20
kills, and increased her team-high total on the season to 149.
Ivana
Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina) notched
her second double-double of the season with 47 assists and
11 digs.
Long Island begins their 2005
home schedule on Fri., Sept. 16th in the Courtyard by Marriott
Blackbird Classic. The Blackbirds kick off the two-day event
against Bowling Green at 3 p.m.
