Volleyball Falls to North Carolina, 3-0

09/02/05-- Long Island senior Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina) recorded 20 assists and five digs but it was not enough as North Carolina posted a 3-0 win (30-18, 30-20, 30-27) this afternoon in the USF Powerade/Asics Classic in San Francisco.

Senior Lizelle Jackson closed with nine kills and seven digs. Newcomer Martina Wagner had nine of LIU's 34 digs.

The Tar Heels, in their season opener, had a 47-29 kill advantage. Camilla Ihenetu led the UNC attack with 16 kills. McKenzie Byrd finished with a match-high 26 assists for the Heels.

The Blackbirds face host San Francisco Friday evening at 10:00 p.m. EST. On Saturday, September 3, LIU takes on Fresno State (1:00 p.m.) and William & Mary (7:45 p.m.)
