10/22/05 -- Senior Jade Gold (Jupiter, Fla.) had a team-high 12 kills and seven blocks as LIU notched its fourth consecutive victory, 3-0 (30-15, 30-12, 30-19), over Wagner on Saturday night. With the win, the Blackbirds improve to 14-11 overall and 3-0 in the Northeast Conference.

LIU was staked to an early deficit in game one, as the Seahawks won the first three points of the match. The Blackbirds then rattled off five straight and never looked back, using an impressive .400 hitting percentage to take the first game handily. LIU hit .369 for the match and held Wagner to a meager -.071.

A strong defensive performance in game two, led by Gold, limited the Seahawks to -.208 hitting. The Blackbirds never trailed in the game and rolled to an easy 30-12 win.

Wagner took a brief 3-1 lead in the third game before LIU closed out the game and the match on a 29-16 run.

Graduate student setter Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina) led the Blackbirds with 25 assists. Sophomore Trevon Dyson (Rock Hill, S.C.) chipped in with eight kills on .538 hitting and two blocks.

Junior Lydia Emnott led Wagner with 14 assists.

LIU continues NEC play at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
