9/09/05 -- Senior Lizelle Jackson had a match-high 19 kills to lead the LIU attack, but Western Kentucky overcame an early deficit to down the Blackbirds, 3-1 (30-32, 30-22, 30-22, 30-23) at the Georgia Tech Renaissance Invitational. The loss drops Long Island to 2-7 on the season, as the Hilltoppers improve to
5-1.

After dropping the first set of the match, Western Kentucky came out on fire in the second, downing 18 kills on 28 attempts with zero errors for a sizzling .643 hitting percentage. For the match, the Hilltoppers outhit LIU, .467 to .238.

Western Kentucky sophomore Jenna Gideon led the Hilltoppers with 18 kills and only one attack error for a match-high .708 hitting percentage.

Jade Gold had a season-high 14 kills and hit .500 in the loss. Jackson also paced the Blackbirds with 15 digs.

Long Island close out their stay at the Georgia Tech Renaissance Invitational against host Georgia Tech at 12 p.m. Saturday.
