After winning the 2006 Northeast Conference Championship,
the Long Island University volleyball team will find out
its seeding the in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 26.
The 64-team bracket will be announced between 3:00 and 3:30
p.m. on ESPNEWS. The Blackbirds will view the announcement
on the fourth floor of the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic
Center.
Long Island claimed their third-straight
NEC Championship with a 3-0 (30-12, 30-22, 30-22) win over
Robert Morris on Nov. 19. Junior Martina
Wagner (Friedrichshafen, Germany) was named the tournament’s
most valuable player. Wagner, who was also named the conference’s
player of the year, is ranked second in the nation in service
aces, averaging 0.97 per game. As a team, the Blackbirds lead
the country in that category with an average of 2.81 aces per
game. Wagner is 13th in the nation in kills per game, averaging
4.98.
