9/10/04 -- Senior Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina), sophomore Dana Demayo (Ra'anana, Israel) and junior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, Calif.) each notched a pair of double-doubles as Long Island split two matches at the Connecticut Invitational in Storrs, Conn.

LIU recorded a 3-1 victory (27-30, 30-27, 30-16, 30-25) over Stony Brook in the morning before a 3-0 setback (25-30, 35-37, 26-30) in the nightcap to Connecticut.

Vasiljevic ended the match against Stony Brook with 48 assists and 11 digs, Demayo totaled 17 kills and 18 digs with Jackson adding 19 and 23.

The Blackbirds (5-2) grabbed control of the match in game three with a .515 hitting percentage thanks to 18 kills and just one error over 33 attacks. The Seawolves (2-3) managed just 11 kills and only a .171 percentage in that game.

LIU tried to keep things going against Connecticut, even though it concluded with 52 kills and 69 digs in the first meeting between the schools.

Vasiljevic ended with 45 assists and 10 digs for her 52nd career match with at least a double-double. Demayo posted 15 kills and a career-best 31 digs with Jackson adding 14 and 11.

Senior Cristina Pintilie (Cluj Napoca, Romania), who finished with 14 kills against Stony Brook, ended with 13 vs. the Huskies (3-3).

LIU closes the tournament Saturday against Holy Cross, beginning at 12:00 pm.
