9/12/04 -- Sophomore Dana Demayo (Ra'anana, Israel) and junior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, Calif.) each made the all-tournament team for Long Island as it closed the Connecticut Invitational with a 3-0 triumph over Holy Cross (30-20, 30-22, 30-21) in Storrs, Conn.

Demayo played solidly with 10 kills and 20 digs, marking the fourth time this season the reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year has notched at least 20 digs. Jackson continued her stellar play with 14 kills, 12 digs and a .290 hitting percentage.

Demayo finished the tournament with 42 kills and 69 digs for her second appearance this season on an all-tournament team, including last week at Sacred Heart. Jackson added 47 and 46 as the Blackbirds (6-2) finished second in the tournament and matched their best start in school history from last year.

Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina) continued her standout play at setter with 37 assists and 11 digs. Fellow senior Cristina Pintilie (Cluj Napoca, Romania) pounded 16 kills with no errors over 27 attacks for a .593 hitting percentage.

LIU dominated throughout, notching a .320 hitting percentage thanks to 55 kills and just 16 errors. Holy Cross (1-5) was limited to only 32 kills and a .087 percentage.

Michelle Leahy dished 24 assists with Caitlin Agostinacchio adding 18 digs for the Crusaders.

LIU competes in the Coastal Carolina Classic next weekend in Conway S.C., beginning Friday against North Carolina State.
