Ivana Vasiljevic selected NEC Player of the Week

10/11/04 -- Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina) today became the fourth player this season for Long Island tabbed Northeast Conference Player of the Week.

The senior setter registered 189 assists, 60 digs, 19 kills, four block assists and one ace to help the Blackbirds go 3-1 on the week.

After recording 45 assists in a 3-1 victory over St. Peter’s, she notched three double-doubles at the Valley National Bank Knights Classic in Hackensack, NJ.

Vasiljevic, a first team All-NEC pick last year, opened with 35 assists and 14 digs in a 3-0 setback to Fairfield on Friday. On Saturday, she notched 62 assists, eight shy of her own school record, and 16 digs as the Blackbirds pulled out a 3-2 victory over Iona.

Vasiljevic then posted her 12th double-double of the season with 47 assists and 22 digs as LIU blanked Canisius. She is third in the NEC with 11.46 assists per game and third on the squad with 3.21 digs per game.

LIU returns to action on Tuesday, October 12, entertaining Manhattan at 7:00 p.m.
