11/7/05 -- Long Island University senior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, Calif./Cal State Los Angeles) was named the Northeast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced today.

The outside hitter is the third consecutive Blackbird to earn the accolade. LIU has had five weekly honors this season.

Jackson posted 23 kills and a match-high 20 digs in the Blackbird’s 3-1 win over Rhode Island Friday evening. She also recorded her eighteenth double-double this season against Temple on Saturday. The Palmdale, Calif. native tallied 15 kills, 13 digs and one service ace in a tough four game loss to the Owls.

Jackson leads the team in kills (4.13) and digs (3.85).

LIU returns to the court on Saturday, Nov. 12 in doubleheader action. The Blackbirds travel to conference foe St. Francis (N.Y.) at 11 a.m. then return home to host Georgetown in a non-conference matchup at 3 p.m.
