10/24/04 -- Ivana Vasiljevic (Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina) dished 62 assists as Long Island broke the school's single-season record for most victories with a 3-2 triumph (25-30, 30-26, 30-26, 29-31, 15-11) over Northeast Conference foe St. Francis (PA) in Loretto, Pa.

LIU (22-6, 1-1 NEC) recorded a .571 hitting percentage with nine kills and one error in game five to close the match. The Red Flash (3-23, 0-2) had seven kills in that game, but only a .371 percentage.

The win shatters the record-win total from 2002, when the Blackbirds competed in the NEC final and finished the year 21-18.

Vasiljevic, who tied a season high in assists, also added eight digs for LIU's 13th victory in 15 outings. Junior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, Calif.) closed with 13 kills and 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.

Senior Cristina Pintilie (Cluj Napoca, Romania) pounded 21 kills and junior Melanie Fleig (Villingen, Germany) added 17. Junior Adela Igniska (Baia Mare, Romania) posted a team-high 19 digs with sophomore Dana Demayo (Ra'anana, Israel) adding 17.

Traci Hassell had 54 assists and 14 digs for St. Francis (PA) with Nichole Hyer adding 20 kills and 13 digs.

LIU begins a five-match homestand Wednesday against Seton Hall. First serve is at 7:00 pm.
