Long Island Volleyball Announces
2007 Slate

The Long Island University volleyball team announced its 2007 schedule,
with the Blackbirds hosting a tournament as well as six other home
matches. The three-time defending Northeast Conference champions
will also take part in five tournaments in an array of locations.
Long Island, which compiled a
25-11 record last season, will open the season on Aug. 24 at
the San Diego State Tournament against Fairfield. The Blackbirds
will also take on UC Santa Barbara and the host Aztecs. After
an Aug. 28 match at New Mexico, the Blackbirds will participate
in the Arizona State Tournament on Aug. 31 – Sept. 2.
In addition to battling the Sun Devils, Long Island will compete
against Northern Arizona and Iowa State. (more)

7/19/07 -- For the second straight season,
the Long Island University volleyball team received the Game
Plan/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic
Award. In order to be eligible for the honor, a team must have
a combined grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
The Blackbirds work in the classroom led to a team GPA of 3.44.
